The PE Fit Company was founded in 2006 in response to the interest in the PE Fit Nutrition & Activity Programs published by Betty Kern, MS, CSCS. PE Fit’s desire is to support teachers with curriculum that includes fitness activities as well as tools to teach students healthy lifestyle habits. The PE Fit Nutrition & Activity Programs were created by Betty Kern for her students! The curriculum was originally developed as a girl’s only fitness program called “Personal Training” at Springfield High School in Akron, Ohio. Personal Training Class became a popular physical education elective with a waiting list. Why? The girls enjoyed the fitness activities, lost weight, lost inches and learned the importance of a healthy lifestyle. In order to impact more students, Betty revamped the curriculum for use in the general Physical Education classes at Springfield. The students experience improvements in physical fitness, adopted healthier eating and activity habits.
PE Fit Programs have expanded to include upper elementary, middle school, high school, college freshman and adult wellness programs. PE Fit has been partnering with Akron Children’s Hospital with a grant from Kohl’s Department Stores to implement the PE Fit Programs into schools in the greater Akron area. PE Fit is excited to begin a new partnership with National Archery in the Schools Program to help improve student’s fitness and nutrition habits along with teaching archery skills.
